Need a little help with your gardening, maybe some better information?  Looking forward to more attractive flower beds next year?  Fall is an ideal time to begin planning for Spring.  Spend the morning with two OSU  horticultural experts and determine what should be planted and what can be nurtured through the winter.  Ensure a successful start to your upcoming gardening year.  

Door prizes and refreshments will be offered.  Registration  by September 26th is appreciated and will be rewarded with door prizes at the event.   The Grand Prize will be free attendance at all Geauga County Master Gardener 2017 classes —including the popular craft classes— with a value of $180.  The second prize will be a $25 gift certificate for the popular Gardens Galore to be used toward admission or purchases.   Finally there is a chance to win a soil test kit.  This community presentation will be held at the Newbury Auditorium,  14775 Auburn Road,  Newbury, OH 44065. *

Successful Soils       8:30 am - 10:00 am

Jacqueline Kowalski, MA, Extension Educator of The Ohio State University in Agriculture and Natural Resources presents Successful Soils.  Healthy landscapes and crops start with healthy soil.  What   contributes to healthy soil?  What can a homeowner do to increase soil quality? This session will discuss research - based information of what is successful and what is not.

 

Plants You Gotta Have!     10:30 am - Noon

Dr. Laura Deeter,  Professor and Coordinator - Landscape Horticulture and Horticultural Science Ohio State University - Agricultural Technical Institute (ATI) - Wooster, Ohio. Dr. Deeter gives an inspirational presentation not to be missed.  She brings her earthy humor and strong knowledge of perennial plants to address home gardening problems.  Learn  new ways to successfully implement old favorites and little known “cool” plants in the landscape.  Hortus Mustus!

*There is a fifteen dollar general admission fee.  Master Gardeners attending and showing their IDs will get a 20% discount.  There is no charge for teenagers 13 - 17 accompanying a Master Gardener.  Call 440-834-4656 to register, preferably  by Monday, September 26, 2016.
