    Maple sugaring time is a very special time of the year in Northeast Ohio. Steam rising from the sugarhouse and the smell of boiling sap and wood smoke fills the air. Have you ever thought about what it would take to get started making maple syrup? Maple production can be as simple as a few buckets in the backyard or several hundred taps in the woodlot on your farm. The 2015 Maple 101 class sponsored by the Geauga County Park District and presented by The Geauga County OSU Extension.

    OSU Extension in Northeast Ohio will be providing a training session to help farmers prepare for the Ohio Department of Agriculture's Private Pesticide Applicator's Exam. This class is not required but is a great opportunity for applicators to learn what they will need to study for the test. This class will be held at the Geauga County Extension office, 14269 Claridon Troy Rd., Burton, OH 44021. The registration fee for theis program is $35 a person and includes the core workbooks.
