Composting is the easiest and most earth-friendly way of regenerating garden beds. It can be accomplished in a small bin in a backyard or on a city-wide scale. Matt Ray, a teacher from Milwaukee Public Schools in Wisconsin whose mom is a Geauga County Master Gardener Volunteer, will teach you how to compost your kitchen waste so you can have “black gold” available for all your gardening needs. Matt will teach you how introducing worms - vermiculture - make the finished compost even more nutritious. Matt has been composting with his students for years. He initiated the first cafeteria composting in Milwaukee Public Schools and participates in the residential pick-up pilot program in the city of Milwaukee. He teaches the basics in soil chemistry and plant needs and is familiar with three of the largest commercial operations in Southeast Wisconsin. - $15
